Intro: Fete of the Earth 5th July 2009, 10am – 3pm

 

The 2009 fete will provide a buzzing festival atmosphere with loads of activities to keep the whole family happy all day.

 

The 2009 Science Trail program is packed with funky science. With a Discovery Centre, hands on experiments and Meet the Scientist Program (kindly sponsored by University of Wollongong). We will also have displays from WIRES, Futureworld, Sustainable Illawarra and Glengarry Cottage.



 

Workshops for all ages will include:

Close Encounters with Reptiles

Science Experiments with CSIRO Scientists

Ridgey Didge workshop with Peter Button (expert didgeridoo player)

Environmental Art (create fabulous art using nature’s materials)

Build Your Own Solar-powered boat

 

Plus, there will be a live puppet show, recycled craft activities, live music, all the traditional rides and homemade food.

Science Trail:

Discovery room is free for the naturally inquisitive to get a microscopic view of bugs, and the university specimens of spiders, snakes and the skeletons of our native animals.

For the first time, Fete of the Earth will include a mini expo, involving organisations that help promote sustainable approaches to life.   Sustainability@Thirroul will showcase information and products that particularly promote environmental responsibility at home. Fete visitors are welcome to browse through the stands, and gain information on issues such as sustainable living, solar energy solutions and hybrid cars.
